History of CareerDFW

August 2008 - Five career management groups split from a larger career group. Each group was now out on their own. In order to promote each other, flyers were created to promote each others career group.

September 2008 - Jeff Morris looked at other ways to promote the groups and found that www.CareerDFW.org was available and purchased the website name. Having never built a website, Jeff used his career network to find someone to show him how to build a website. Jeff created a word document that mocked up what he envisioned the website to look like.

October 2008- After a few false starts, Jeff found Rick Arroyave (thru networking) to help Jeff get this website started. Rick has helped several nonprofits build their websites and he helped by pointing to the right program to structure, manage, and publish the information. Jeff started attending (and still does attend) a monthly website users group meeting and learned from experienced and very helpful website designers...people just like you.

November 17, 2008www.CareerDFW.org is officially launched.

November 17, 2008- A CareerDFW Linkedin group is created.

March 2009 - Jeff Morris attended two seminars called "To be or not to be a 501(c)(3)" at the Dallas Center for Nonprofit Management.

March 21, 2009 - CareerDFW is a feature story written by Cheryl Hall in the Dallas Morning News Business Section.

March 23-24, 2009 - Highest visitor count to the website so far, over 1100 visitors in a 24 hour period.

April 23, 2009 - The CareerDFW Linkedin Group reaches its 500th member.

May 2009 - Jeff Morris asked Dennis O'Hagan and Dr. Glen Earl to form a Board of Directors for CareerDFW.

July 1, 2009 - Articles of Incorporation of CareerDFW were filed with the Secretary of State of Texas and a Certificate of Formation for a Nonprofit Corporation was issued.

July 7, 2009 - CareerDFW applies for an Employer Identification Number which was issued by the Department of The Treasury, Internal Revenue Service.

August 14, 2009 - CareerDFW files paperwork with the Department of The Treasury, Internal Revenue Service for 501c3 non-profit status.

September 10, 2009 - The CareerDFW Linkedin Group reaches its 1000th member.

October 6, 2009 - CareerDFW receives a letter of determination from the Internal Revenue Service stating that as of July 1, 2009 CareerDFW is"exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code. Contributions to you are deductible under section 170 of the Code. You are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequest, devises, transfers of gifts under section 2055, 2106 or 2522 of the code."  "We have determined that you are a public charity under the Code..."

October 21, 2009 - CareerDFW receives it first donation from the Southlake Focus Group.

November 17, 2009 - The CareerDFW website celebrates its 1st birthday. In the past year:

December 29, 2009- CareerDFW receives from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts exemptions for Texas Franchise Tax and Texas Sales and Use Tax.

January 26, 2010 - The CareerDFW LinkedIn group has it 1500th member.

February 1, 2010 - CareerDFW releases to the public a FREE NEW Jobs Board. Free to post, Free to view. Jobs only stay posted for 21 days.

February 7, 2010 - CareerDFW is now on Twitter. Many thanks to David Swinney for setting up programs to allow up to 5 new jobs each 30 minutes to be posted on Twitter from the CareerDFW NEW Jobs board. Follow the job postings at www.Twitter.com/CareerDFWJobs.

March 16, 2010 - A user posts the 500th job on the Free CareerDFW NEW Jobs Board.

March 30, 2010 - The CareerDFW LinkedIn group has it 2000th member.

April 12, 2010 - 500,000 pages have been veiwed on the CareerDFW website since the site started November 17, 2008.

April 21, 2010 - A user posts the 1000th job on the FREE CareerDFW NEW Jobs Board.

May 25, 2010 - The CareerDFW website has its 100,000 visitor. Since 11/17/08 visitors from over 101 countries have visited CareerDFW.

June 17, 2010 - The CareerDFW LinkedIn group has its 2500th member.

July 6, 2010 - A user post the 2000th job on the FREE CareerDFW NEW Jobs Board.

September 3, 2010 - A user post the 3000th job on the FREE CareerDFW NEW Jobs Board.

October 4, 2010 - The CareerDFW LinkedIn group has its 3000th member.

October 4, 2010 - 1,000,000 (1 million) pages have been veiwed on the CareerDFW website since the site started November 17, 2008.

November 17, 2010 - CareerDFW celebrates it's two year anniversary. In the past two years:

March 11, 2011 - The CareerDFW website has its 200,000 visitor. Since 11/17/08 visitors from over 137 countries have visited CareerDFW.

April, 18, 2011 - The CareerDFW LinkedIn group has its 4,000th member.

May 24, 2011 - A user post the 7,000th job on the FREE CareerDFW New Jobs Board.

November 3, 2011 - The CareerDFW LinkedIn group has its 5,000th member.

November 17, 2011 - CareerDFW celebrates it's three year anniversary. In the past three years:

January 4, 2012 - A user post the 10,000th job on the FREE CareerDFW NEW Jobs Board.

January 2012 - The CareerDFW Board of Directors expands from 3 to 4 people. Richard Solomon joins Jeff MorrisDennis O'Hagan and Dr. Glen Earl on the CareerDFW Board for 2012.

February 1, 2012 - The CareerDFW NEW Jobs board celebrates its 2nd birthday. 10,455 jobs have been posted for FREE.

September 6, 2012 - The CareerDFW LinkedIn group has its 7,000th member.

September 12, 2012 - Jeff Morris releases his first book, YOUR JOB SEARCH: What I've Learned About YOUR JOB SEARCH That You May Not Know. Click here to read more

September 20, 2012 - Jeff Morris, Founder and President of CareerDFW met U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis and the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the White House Forum on Job Clubs and Career Ministries. (Read the press release here) The event was held in the Indian Treaty Room at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building of the White House in Washington, DC. The purpose of this forum is to bring together job club and ministry leaders, workforce development officials, and faith and nonprofit leaders from across the country with representatives from the White House, Department of Labor, and other federal agencies.  Discussions included the important role of job support groups in getting Americans back to work. In addition to the morning forum, Jeff met with representatives from federal agency Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships Centers. To read Jeff's review of the day, click here.

October 2012 - CareerDFW has been selected by the Dallas GiveCamp to assist in a website makeover. Click here for more info.

October 26-28, 2012 - This is the Dallas GiveCamp weekend. The CareerDFW website is updated.  CareerDFW launches CareerUSA.org. A website to help those in other parts of the US. Several changes were made to the CareerDFW.org webiste. The following tabs were moved to CareerUSA.org: Files, Websites, Books, NEW Jobs and the Humor sections. If you click on one of these tabs on the CareerDFW site, it will take you to www.CareerUSA.org. In addition, a new templete was installed along with drop down menus and both sites are now mobile friendly and more secure with the latest software updates. November 17th, 2012 - CareerDFW celebrates its 4th birthday.

December 9, 2012 - Jeff Morris' book, "What I've Learned About YOUR JOB SEARCH That You May Not Know" is reviewed in the Sunday Business section of the Dallas Morning News by Jim Pawlak. Jim reviews 2 business books each week for 22 papers around the US. Click here to read the review.

December 30, 2012 - The CareerDFW LinkedIn group has its 7,500th member.

September 25, 2013 - CareerDFW puts on career seminars at the Putting Texans Back to Work Job Fair sponsored by the Cumulus DFW Radio stations. Two thousand people attended the job fair and over 300 people attended the 4 topics that rotated thru the day. A total of 11 seminars were conducted by Locke Alderson and Jeff Morris

October 7th, 2013 - The CareerDFW LinkedIn group has its 9,000th member. 

October 22, 2013 - CareerDFW reviews resumes at the Dallas Morning News / Expo Experts job fair in Irving. Three volunteers, Maxine Walker, Sue Wolfson and Jeff Morris reviewed almost 100 resumes from job seekers at the event.

October 28th, 2013 - The CareerUSA.org website celebrates its 1st birthday.

November 17th, 2013 - CareerDFW celebrates its 5th birthday.

November 2013 - CareerDFW and CareerUSA turns off the New Job board after almost 4 years due to techinical issues. Over 18,000 jobs were posted. Users can still post jobs on the CareerDFW Linked Group Job tab. A new job baord program is being researched.

June 5th, 2014 - The CareerDFW LinkedIn group has its 10,000th member. 

October 2014 - CareerDFW and CareerUSA.org were selected by the Dallas Give Camp for a website makeover. On October 17-19 several volunteers gave their weekend to help CareerDFW and CareerUSA.org update the website to the most current software and gave both sites a makeover. In addition we were able to restart the job board on CareerUSA.org website. Job stay posted for 21 days only. 

November 17, 2014 - CareerDFW celebrates its 6th birthday. 

 November 17, 2015- CareerDFW celebrates its 7th birthday.

September 14, 2017 - CareerDFW participates for the first time in the Communities Foundation of Texas' 9th annual North Texas Giving Day.
